The Prince of Kios

The prince of Kios, Mithridates has appeared in [ROOT.GetCountry.GetCapital.GetName], seeking refugee from the wrath of [SCOPE.sChar('mithridates').GetEmployer.GetRuler.GetPraenomen], the ruler of Antigonid Kingdom. The aristocrat has wealth to spare apparently, as he has promised us gifts if we are willing to help him out.

Taking him in would certainly not make us particularly popular in Antigonid Kingdom, but when did we ever really care what they thought of us anyways? These are Paphlagonian lands, and we are the ones who decide what will be done here.

Mithridates in Paphlagonia

The traitorous snake Mithridates has run off to Paphlagonia, claiming that we wanted to take his life over some ridiculous dream. What sort of preposterous allegations will he think of next?

The Traitorous Mithridates

Apparently the traitorous snake Mithridates planned to flee to Paphlagonia, though it is somewhat unclear exactly why he wanted to do so. Some rumors claim he wanted to conspire with Paphlagonia to improve his position at court.

In any case, the Paphlagonians promptly declined his offers, and returned him to our court, with apologies for the misunderstanding.

The Persian Prince

The prince of Kios, Mithridates, is apparently looking to expand his influence in Pontus, and wants to claim some ancient land that once belonged to his family. Not only does he hail from a long line of rulers in Anatolia, but he is fairly popular at court as his move to [ROOT.GetCountry.GetCapital.GetName] has been the topic on everyones lips these last days.

He is bringing with him a notable group of administrators and bureaucrats, some of whom are looking to him to change our way of life to one more similar to that of the Persians. As his move to Pontus draws closer, we have even seen a large faction of pro-Mithridates supporters demand that he be made the king of our lands.

Mithridates of Pontus

To our surprise, the people of Pontus have decided to hand over their throne to Mithridates. He brought with him a large number of administrators and bureaucrats who are already looking into reshaping the area significantly.

With Mithridates in charge, we are certain to have some more good will with the people of Pontus after his long stay in [ROOT.GetCountry.GetName].

With Mithridates settled in at the court at Pontus, he and his supporters have started looking into the steps they want to take to change the bureaucracy of Pontus. His sudden rise to kinghood has been popular in [SCOPE.sCountry('mithridates_employer').GetName], where he used to live and still has a network of allies.

The Hellenistic Pontus

Pontus has long been split between the Pontic people of the highlands, and the Greco-Pontic people living along the coastline. Despite fairly different traditions, they have always seem to get along, but it is difficult to govern both sides unless we take strides to shape our administration with that in mind.

With the powerful Successor kingdoms of Alexander, Greek language and customs have become more widespread all the way from Magna Graecia to the lands of India in the far east. Maybe it is time we start looking towards a more Hellenistic solution for ourselves as well?
